Kitty Stars of the Week for August 25 - 31, 2002.
This week, our first kitty star is Sweetie, and this is her story, told
by her person:
"In March of 2001, my family and I decided
to go from our new house
in College Station to my Uncle's house. My Uncle
lives in Dallas, Texas so
we figured that since it wasn't too far, we could
take my dog, Shebah with
incredible ease. Even though I was only nine years
old, I had a incredible
ability to talk my parents into things ... so at
the pet store, I did... We went to the pet store to get Shebah
a collar, but came back
with a fat bundle of love."
"I know my mom well enough to know that
right after my mom loses
a cat, she is not ready to get another one until a
couple of years later. (Our cat had died a few months before then.) I
finally talked my parents into
it and now my cat is the cutest! But the best part
is...I FINALLY have my
own cat! (Well sort of- she loves my whole family!)
I love you Sweetheart!"

Our second kitty star is Hoggle, and her person-mom writes:
"This is "Hoggle" -- yes it's from the old David Bowie movie...
She is a stray cat of a litter of 6 that were found in the drainage
system of a local store. I've been hand-raising the whole crew since
they were less than 2 days old and now *sniffle, sniffle* they're
going up for adoption at the veterinary hospital that I work at!
This is the most spirited, loving cat that I've ever met (and I have
9 permanent cats of my own, so that's saying alot...). When I first
got her and her littermates she was half dead and almost her whole
tail was consumed by a nasty staph infection. Now, after 6 weeks,
they're fat, healthy, rambuncious little critters waiting for their
forever home.... but Hoggle has found a forever friend in me!"
