Kitty Star of the Week for Oct. 31 - Nov. 6, 2010
This week our star is Jax da Cat, and Jax has this to say:
"Howdy! I am JAX "da kat" as in "da Bears". I came from a home of 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
My daddy was a Savannah wild cat and momma was a domestic Tabby. I am brown, not orange,
and have very long back legs and a long long tail. I am trouble from the get go. I am a REBEL
in my own rights and can jump very high, so high that from a dead stance behind my mom I can
get on her shoulder and sit there! I am always in trouble because I am like a little
2-year-old the way I play. I have a toy ferret that I throw up in the air, and then I jump up
to get it before it lands. I twist and turn in all different ways to get it and look so very
cute playing.
"When my mom leaves the house I sit in the window and wait for her to come home so I can wave
at her. I learned how to do this from her waving at me goodbye, and now I will wave
through the window pane every time she comes home. I am a good bug catcher, but I am very,
very hard to deal with at the vets office. I don't like my nails to be cut, and they have to
put on the big suede gloves because I hiss and growl at them -- and I am small yet! I am
barely a year old but weigh 13 pounds and am very strong.
"My best attribute is when my mommy goes to chemotherapy and radiation therapy -- I always
come to comfort her when she gets home from the Cancer Center. You see, mommy has
NonHodgkin's lymphoma, and she is burned from the radiation and sick at her tummy from the
chemotherapy. My mommy "I think" is pretty because her hair is the same color as mine. She
has very long hair that is very wavy and pretty green eyes to match her red hair. She is
doing pretty good, but she has some days when she needs to stay in bed and I love sleeping
with her and just lounging about when she doesn't feel good. I bring my toys to the bedroom
when she has to stay in bed, and we play on top of the bed. Once I knew it was time for her
medicines, and I tried to bring them to her as they are in a quart sized plastic zip bag,
and I was so small -- but trying to bring the bag to her down the hall was hard, so I dragged
it into the bedroom since I KNEW it was time for her to be up and taking her medicines. She
thought is was cute, but I was just trying to help her since she didn't have the strength to
get up.
"All in all, I am a real good little boy, but I have my days when I act up and jump up on my
mom's shoulder from behind. She doesn't like that because it scares her when I do it out of
the blue like that, but that's the fun in it -- she doesn't know WHEN I'm going to do it
BUT I DO!!! HA HA!!! I'm getting ready for Halloween now, but I won't allow mommy to put any
costume on me. I'll be hissing and fussy with all the children I'm sure, as I am very
protective of my mommy."
